Making a complaint against Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service

The Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service seeks to provide its customers with high quality services suited to their needs. It aims to do so with courtesy and efficiency.

For this reason the Service welcomes comments from customers about its services. Comments - whether they involve congratulation, criticisms or constructive suggestions - help us assess the services we provide.

The Service recognises that from time to time customers may wish to make a complaint. Examples of complaints would be where a customer considers that there has been:-

  • Failure to provide a service at the right time or to the standard expected of the Service.
  • Dissatisfaction in answering a query or responding to a request for a service.
  • Failure to follow the Service’s agreed policy, orders or procedures.
  • Failure to take proper account of relevant matters in coming to a decision.
  • Discourteous or dishonest behaviour by a member of staff.
  • Harassment, bias or unfair discrimination.

Complaints will be monitored by the Service Executive Board on a quarterly basis. A report will be submitted to the Committee at least once a year. The report will not identify individual complainants. The Committee’s attention will be drawn to any trends, which suggest implications for the provision of the Committee’s services.

Complaints may be lodged at: www.hertsdirect.org/ufs/ufsmain?formid=COMPLAINTS

Emailed to: mailto:hertsdirect@hertscc.gov.uk using the subject line 'Formal Complaint'
