Sports at workLetter to ACO Hazeldine
ACO Peter Hazeldine 18th December 2007 Dear Sir, Sports at Work The Fire Brigades Union are pleased to see that, following our request in July 2006, SLG intend to review by pilot the return of Football and Volleyball. Our members felt that the ban was imposed without consultation and we believe that the Health & Safety issues around sport may have been managed better in the past. With reference to your email of 17th December 2007, the Fire Brigades Union are disappointed that having discussed a pilot of Sports at Work in September, SLG waited until yesterday to consult with workplace Health and Safety Reps. Given the unreasonable 24hr deadline for consultation you have set, the Fire Brigades Union are unable to conform to your request for comments today. In order not to delay the pilot we are willing to consult throughout the six-month trial and pass you our comments at its conclusion. I would ask that you contact Paul Stanbridge in order that he may view your risk assessment and discuss the issue with his health & safety team. We fully expect that, due to the nature of this trial, we be afforded our right to consultation throughout. Regards Tony Smith TELL US YOUR VIEWS: the.team@hertsfbu.org
